The property

Two loops of nine either side of chemin Rivermead, with the clubhouse, practice ground, and both finishing greens gathered at the centre.

Illustrated plan of Rivermead's eighteen holes, numbered, with treed borders, ponds, and the clubhouse at centre

Hole by hole

Yardages from tee deck 1, the longest of the six. The forward card plays to par 75 for the women, with holes 5, 7, and 18 as three-shotters. Every hole includes the club's own drone flyover: press play and walk it from the air.

Front nine · 3,400 yards · par 36

1

Par 5 · 500 yards · Handicap 15

A three-shot opener off the clubhouse lawn. Generous enough to ease you into the round, long enough to reward a brave second.

2

Par 3 · 180 yards · Handicap 13

The first of five one-shotters, played to a well-defended green. A mid-iron and a clear head.

3

Par 4 · 365 yards · Handicap 9

A classic Golden Age two-shotter: position off the tee matters more than distance.

4

Par 4 · 305 yards · Handicap 17

The tempter. Drivable for the bold since the 2023 restoration reshaped its bunkers, with a nasty fall-off right of the green waiting for the greedy.

5

Par 4 · 470 yards · Handicap 3

A long, demanding four for the men and a three-shot hole on the forward card. Par here feels like a birdie.

6

Par 5 · 520 yards · Handicap 11

The longest hole on the front, working through the tree-lined heart of the property.

7

Par 4 · 460 yards · Handicap 1

The number-one handicap hole: a long four that finishes over water to a green you have to fly.

8

Par 3 · 215 yards · Handicap 7

The longest of the par threes. A full long iron or hybrid, and no shame in a three from the fringe.

9

Par 4 · 385 yards · Handicap 5

Restored fairway bunkers, smaller but far more troublesome, guard the line home. Chocolate-drop mounds flank the enlarged green.

Back nine · 3,315 yards · par 36

10

Par 3 · 185 yards · Handicap 14

The most transformed hole of the restoration: bunkering trimmed back, short grass everywhere, and a near-infinity look behind the flag.

11

Par 5 · 490 yards · Handicap 18

The scoring chance on the back. Reachable in two, if the drive holds the fairway.

12

Par 4 · 455 yards · Handicap 2

The hardest hole on the inward nine: long, exacting, and honest about it.

13

Par 4 · 335 yards · Handicap 8

A mid-length four played with a pond in view. Placement first, then a short iron with full commitment.

14

Par 4 · 390 yards · Handicap 6

A strong two-shotter across the middle of the back nine, where the river-bred greens do their best work.

15

Par 4 · 330 yards · Handicap 12

Short on the card, subtle on the ground. The green complex is the defence.

16

Par 3 · 140 yards · Handicap 16

The shortest hole at Rivermead. A wedge in hand and no excuses.

17

Par 5 · 530 yards · Handicap 10

The longest hole on the course, turning for home through the western corner of the property.

18

Par 4 · 460 yards · Handicap 4

The famous finisher: a long four over the stone-walled pond and its fountain, played beneath the clubhouse windows.

The scorecard

Six tee decks, and combined decks between them, give eleven ways to play the course. Pick the card that matches your game, not your pride. On a combined deck the arrows tell you which of the two tees to play for each hole.
